The media loves these stories because they require zero critical thinking. They take a complex engineering problem, wrap it in cheap outrage, and hand the public a simple villain. But if you actually analyze highway design, modern automotive safety, and the physics of high-speed transit, you realize the outrage mob is missing the entire point.

We are punishing drivers for exceeding limits that were never designed for safety in the first place.

The Lie of the 100 km/h Speed Limit

Ask the average person why highway speed limits are set where they are, and they will tell you it's about human tolerance and crash survival.

They are wrong.
